Career

I work at Deloitte as an Online Consultant, specialising in Online Strategy, Social Media Strategy, and Customer Experience (see my LinkedIn account for more info). As a resident social media fanatic, I advise clients and Deloitte on how to use social media well, developing strategies and providing recommendations about platforms, campaigns, methodologies, and analysis. Between my work, PhD and Hottest 100 campaign, I’ve built some serious skills in the social media space, on top of my existing theoretical and practical knowledge of the online space.  Some high points of my career - both at Deloitte, and as an individual - follow:

  • I manage the Twitter account for Deloitte’s Online practice
  • I presented at Go Girl Go For IT 2010 - my speech was titled “From Teenage Internet Addict to Online Consultant”
  • I was interviewed by a Guardian journalist about my Twitter role-playing exploits
  • I was in an interview for The Australian newspaper about social media in business
  • I’ve been nominated for Deloitte’s Business Woman Of The Year award three times
  • I’ve written about Twitter in Information Age and MIS magazines
  • I’m writing a PhD about teenage girls, social media and media production
  • I spoke about social media at: Deloitte’s CMO Roundtable, Deloitte’s Non-Executive Directors Roundtable, and Deloitte and Ampersand Executive’s 2009 business breakfast
  • You’ll find me blogging periodically at Deloitte’s Online Practice blog
  • I’m on Deloitte Australia’s Social Media Committee and Connectivity Committee
  • I was interviewed about Hottest 100 Women: by Byte Into It on RRR, by Girly Is Good on 3CR and by Karen McVean on JoyFM
  • I was (mis)quoted by CNN about Mumbai & Twitter. They didn’t publish my rebuttal
  • I wrote a thesis on the Australian broadband industry
